Straight Side Presses in This Range
A straight side press closes its frame into a box — two uprights, a crown and a bed — with the load path carried by the two uprights rather than by an open throat. Five crank series in this range are built that way: the D1N single crank (80-260 tons), the M1N single crank (125-800 tons), the D2N two-point (110-800 tons), the T2N two-point (400-1,200 tons) and the S2N four-point eccentric (400-1,600 tons). The servo EM2 and the high-speed GP and GPH series are also straight side constructions, on their own pages.
| Series | Drive | Capacity | Stroke | SPM |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| D1N | Single crank | 80-260 t | 70-250 mm | 20-120 |
| M1N | Single crank | 125-800 t | 80-300 mm | 10-90* |
| D2N | Double crank (two-point) | 110-800 t | 110-350 mm | 15-110 |
| T2N | Double crank (two-point) | 400-1,200 t | 300-450 mm | 15-40 |
| S2N | Eccentric, four-point | 400-1,600 t | 500-700 mm | 12-30* |
Selected per-model specifications for the straight side crank series are reproduced on the H-frame press page; the configuration axes are split out on the single crank, double crank and eccentric press pages. (Source note on the two ranges marked * in the table: the M1N speed range opens at 10 and the S2N range at 12 because the M1N-800's and the S2N-1600's variable SPM cells are printed in the manufacturer's tables as dates, “10月20日” and “12月20日”; both lower bounds are presumed restorations of those values — treat them as presumed, not as resolved specifications, and have them confirmed by the manufacturer when quoting.)
Why the Closed Frame
A gap frame press opens at the front for access, with its throat in the load path. A straight side frame has no throat in the load path — two uprights, a crown and a bed close the frame into a box. The guidance engineering published for these series: six-point full-length box gibs on the two-point presses, eight-side long guide rails on the S2N and T2N, and die space up to 6,000 x 1,800 mm at the top of the S2N range for transfer work.
Choosing Inside the Straight Side Range
- Single crank (D1N, M1N): the M1N page documents drawing, bending, marking, flattening and trimming work.
- Double crank (D2N, T2N): the D2N page documents long, narrow parts and progressive dies on long dies with multiple stations; the T2N page documents large dimension dies run in both directions, progressive or transfer.
- Eccentric four-point (S2N): large dimension dies run in both directions, and progressive or transfer dies, at 400-1,600 tons with 500-700 mm strokes — detailed on the eccentric press page.
- Servo and high-speed straight sides: the EM2 servo series (110-630 t) for programmable slide profiles, and the GP/GPH high-speed series for motor laminations — see servo presses and lamination presses.
The open-frame alternative — three-sided die access for small parts — is the C-frame family. Both frame types are set out against the published tables on the stamping presses page.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between a straight side and an H-frame press here?
They are the same construction in this catalogue: the manufacturer's straight side series are its H-frame families. This page groups them by frame; the H-frame page carries the selected specification tables.
What is the largest straight side press in the range?
The S2N eccentric press at 400-1,600 tons nominal pressure, with die space up to 6,000 x 1,800 mm — the largest model in the manufacturer's published crank press tables.
Straight side or C-frame for a progressive die?
A short die with a centred load runs well on a C-frame; a long multi-station die points to a straight side frame. Die width and load centre are the enquiry inputs behind that choice.
Are straight side presses available as servo models?
Yes — the EM2 straight side servo series covers 110-630 tons with programmable slide motion profiles, tabled on the servo press page.
